Sporting registration plates to go on auction

From Thursday June 7^th, the DVLA will be auctioning some of its most coveted personalised registration plates- and they certainly come at a price. In the past decade, football related number plates have sold for thousands in auction: ‘WE57 HAM’ (£57,000), ‘AR53 NAL’ (£36,000), ‘V1LLA’ (£35,000). This year’s auction will see ‘FU1 HAM’ go under the hammer, perhaps another dedicated fan will become the proud owner of this number plate.

As an official licensee of London 2012, the DVLA will also be auctioning new Olympic Games related plates: ‘2012 OG’, ‘GO11 DEN’. These are sure to go for particularly hefty sums as well, as prized mementos of this exciting event.
