Is Your Child in the Right Seat? Five Common Mistakes Parents Make
Sure, we all want our kids to be safe in the car, but a recent study by General Motors Foundation and Safe Kids USA shows that 73% of car seats are not being used properly. In fact, the risk of fatalities among kids could be reduced by 71% if weâd simply install the right seat the right way in the right place in the car.
This becomes even more vital in light of the fact that motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death in children ages 3 to 14. In fact, 500 children are injured and four kids die every day in cars, trucks, and SUVs across the nation.
The bottom line is that babies and children need to ride in a car seat from the time theyâre born until they are 7 or 8 years old in most cases. This potentially means that up to four seats per child will need to be researched, purchased, installed, and evaluated until the child is large enough to safely ride sitting in a seat ...

AA’s fight for fair fuel prices backed by government
The government has stepped up to help the AA’s campaign for fail fuel prices by calling on fuel providers to give customers access to daily fuel values- therefore ensuring that blanket prices are marketed across the entire country. The AA hopes that implementing this will ensure that the whole country benefits from lower fuel prices.
It seems that oil price hikes are quickly mirrored at the pumps, but any drop in price takes a long time to filter down to us as consumers- let’s hope this changes following these reforms, as the government has promised to take further action against fuel retailers if new regulations are not adhered to.

Tesco home insurance laid bare after cracks inspection
Despite not claiming on our Tesco Finest Cover insurance, an inspection for cracks affected our premium
Two years ago I bought a Tesco bank Finest Cover home insurance policy. I live in a remote area of the Highlands and wanted insurance I could rely on. In September 2010, I noticed a few cracks on the gable side of my house and called Tesco for advice. It sent a "technical manager" from Glasgow, 220 miles away (a 440 mile round trip). He came out for about 20 minutes, and his inspection of the cracks consisted of a few bangs on the wall with his car keys. The company sent me a report stating that the cracks were "not a result of subsidence or any other peril and, as such, [are] not covered by your building insurance policy". I did not make a claim and did not hear from Tesco again.
Unhappy with this, I paid £420 for an independent local surveyor to do a thorough report. She gave suggestions for repairs which cost me over £1,500. I did not make an insurance claim for any of this.
This year (as I did last), I shopped around for new home insurance, only to find that Tesco has permanently recorded that I have made a subsidence claim, doubling the cost of my home insurance – even though it did not make any payment to me for subsidence. I have asked Tesco to remove this, but it refuses, and now every year I have to pay the extra premium as though I have made a subsidence claim.
Is there anything I can do to get this claim removed? I feel it is preventing me shopping around for my insurance. PJ, Highlands of Scotland
This is a case that has ramifications for anyone else who spots a few cracks in their house. On the face of it, you did seem to have been harshly treated in that you were apparently being penalised with higher premiums, even though you had not made a claim. Inevitably, though, it was more complicated. Tesco says the act of asking it to investigate the cracks constitutes a claim because it paid for a surveyor to come to your home.
Tesco says this was explained to you at the time you rang, though the ramifications were perhaps not entirely spelt out. It says it is duty-bound to record all such incidents on the Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE), a central database of incidents reported to insurance companies. It says any insurer who looks at this claim on the CUE system would know it is not a confirmed case of subsidence, "but an investigation and repudiation".
Tesco has sent you a letter setting out the exact position. It says that you can tell any potential insurers that subsidence was investigated but found not to be the case. This should help you when you come to renew your policy.
Meanwhile, the moral of the tale for other homeowners is to get any cracks in your home independently examined before you involve your insurer. As this case shows, any involvement on their part will constitute a claim and be counted against you come renewal. If you had just carried out the investigation and work yourself and not involved Tesco, you would still be paying the old premiums, provided you had made no other claim.

Road Rage, Distracted Driving Common Among Daily Commuters
A surprising poll recently conducted by Harris Interactive for the job-posting and career advice website CareerBuilder.com provided some interesting insight into American drivers and their habits behind the wheel. Not so surprisingly, the results showed that as a whole, drivers in the U.S. are an angry and distracted bunch.
The poll, conducted between May 14 and June 4 of this year, surveyed almost 3,900 motorists about their commutes to and from work. Of those polled, the vast majority (83%) drove to work each day as opposed to using public transportation. The poll excluded those who were self-employed or employed in government jobs.
According to Rosemary Haefner, Vice President of Human Resources at CareerBuilder.com, road rage is most associated with running late and dealing with long, far commutes. In total, 58% of all drivers said they experienced road rage during their commutes to and from work. This doesn't mean drivers with short commutes were immune to road rage, though, just that they were less likely to experience it. In fact, only 37% of drivers with a commute of five minutes or less experienced road rage, while 54% of those with commutes of 10 minutes or less admitted to experiencing road rage.
As surprising as it may seem, 61% of all women surveyed admitted that they experienced road rage at some point while making their daily commute, while only 56% of men admitted to losing their head behind the wheel. Regardless of gender, younger drivers are more prone to road rage than older ones, adhering to the stereotype that the older you get, the more you mellow-out. Approximately 68% of those surveyed between the ages of 25 and 34 years old said they experience road rage, while only 47% of those 55 and above admitted the same.
The weather also factored into a driver's likelihood of experiencing road rage. Nearly 17% of those surveyed said that when the temperatures go up in the summer, they experience road rage less. Only 10% claimed that the added heat of the summer months fueled their fury behind the wheel.
While a significant amount of Americans seem to struggle with anger issues during their commutes, the upside came from the fact that only 9% had actually been involved in to a fight with another driver.
Beyond angry driving, almost one in four commuters (24%) has been in an accident while on their way to work, while just under a third (30%) admitted to texting and driving while on their way to work. All in all, to keep your vehicle out of harm's way, keep calm and focus on driving while commuting — and watch out for those who don't.

Barclays takes PPI payments and fails to address claim
PPI paperwork sent to the wrong address caused delays and confusion in a seemingly straightforward claim
On 21 March I telephoned Barclays to pursue a possible PPI claim. I was sent a questionnaire to submit and on 14 May Barclays sent me a copy of its "Full Resolution", but addressed it to the house from which my late husband and I had moved four years previously. As the papers had to be signed and returned within the next five days, I missed the deadline, meaning I have not received any compensation. I still have the loan, and PPI repayments continue to be taken from me by direct debit. SO, Reading
Barclays apologised to you for the stress and inconvenience it has caused. A spokesman said it was made aware of your new address in March but still managed to write to your old address in May. When it did write to you at your actual address you didn't receive the letter, for which it has no explanation. It has now sent you the correct documentation and looks forward to addressing your PPI claim – for which the bank has offered you compensation of £9,197.

Cheap Car Insurance for Women Drivers
Cheap car insurance for women drivers is just as important as it is for their male counterparts. And with more and more women remaining single longer, the need for appropriate car insurance policies for them is greater than it’s ever been. Fortunately, finding great rates on a good policy isn’t hard to do if you know it looking for. It’s simply a matter of looking around and learning to encourage car insurance companies to compete for your business.
Finding cheap car insurance for women drivers starts with having a little bit of industry knowledge. To begin with, were you aware that women are statistically less likely to be involved in serious auto accidents than men? They are, with the exception of a few select groups of women. That’s why when a husband and wife are included on the same policy the declaration pages show different rates for each one. The rates for the husband are typically 20% to 30% higher at minimum.
The same is true when it comes to teen drivers just beginning their careers behind the wheel. Young males between the ages of 18 and 25 can pay up to four times as much as young females in the same age group. What’s the reason for this? Once again it’s in the statistics. Numbers from the U.S. Highway Safety Administration clearly show that young, male drivers in this age group are responsible for the largest share of serious and fatal car accidents on America’s roadways. Females in the same age group are not involved in nearly as many.
Finally, one last bit of information you need to know is that married women are considered more stable and responsible than single women. If you’re still single you’ll have to work a little harder to make sure you get the cheapest car insurance.
Shopping Around
The key to cheap car insurance for women is to shop around just like you would anything else you plan to purchase. This includes contacting multiple insurance companies and asking for written quotes. Some companies will immediately respond with a quote in your e-mail while others will want to call you and talk to you first. Regardless of the method, you need multiple quotes in order to compare policy details and get the best deal.
While you’re asking for quotes be sure to inquire about any discounts you might be available for. All drivers are potentially eligible for at least one or two discounts; women might be eligible for a few more based on their current life circumstances. For example, one insurance company might offer a discount for single mothers trying to get an education while supporting their children. Unfortunately, you’ll never know about such discounts unless you ask.
Family Policies
For married women who are included on a family policy, getting the best possible rates means taking advantage of your sex. For example, multi-car policies list different drivers in the same household as being the primary operators of those vehicles. But if your vehicles have significantly different repair or replacement values they will also have different rates attached to them. By assigning the wife to the more expensive car and the husband to the less expensive car, the family will be getting the best overall price on their policy.
Keep in mind that even when you do find the most affordable car insurance you’re not required to stick with it for the rest of your life. If you can find a better deal at renewal time tell your current insurance company what you found. If they refuse to do better than you’re free to switch to the other provider.

GeenGT to Run Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car at 2013 24 Hours of LeMans
While the 24 Hours of LeMans has always been an event that allowed vehicle manufactures to debut their cutting-edge technology, recently, the annual race that takes place each June has become a showcase for car manufacturer's latest green vehicle technologies. Last year marked the first time a hybrid car won the race when Audi took the checkered flag with their R18 e-tron quatrro. The trend ostensibly will continue at next year's race, but this time, with engine technology that will be brand new to the racetrack. GreenGT, a French company that develops green powertrain solutions for racing and concept cars, announced that it will enter the 2013 running of the French classic with its hydrogen fuel cell-powered Green GT H2 prototype race car.
The GreenGT will be capable of going up to 186 mph, and will be able to race for 40 minutes straight on a single tank of hydrogen. In addition, it'll one-up other "green" competitors by producing zero exhaust emissions. Instead, the car will only emit air and water. Last year's hybrid entries from Audi and Toyota relied on diesel and gasoline motors, respectively, and were complemented by hybrid electric motors. The GreenGT H2, though, will use its hydrogen fuel cell to power dual electric motors that are rated at a combined 537 horsepower, and a staggering 2,950 pound-feet of torque. To get all that muscle to the ground, the car relies on the company's patented torque vectoring differential gearbox (also known as a transmission) to send power to the wheels. The unique system allows the company to vary the amount of power sent to the wheels, which will allow the car's engineers to use its suspension system control vehicle handling response, while the torque vectoring system provides stability during acceleration and deceleration.
Due to the car's extreme torque output, and additional weight from its advanced hydrogen fuel cell and dual electric motor drivetrain, the team has partnered with the tire manufacturer Dunlop to create a special tire that can cope with the additional loads.
Dunlop Motorsport general manager Jean-Felix Bazein explained that the GreenGT H2 poses a unique set of challenges that go beyond existing tire technology, so the company is developing a new tire using new construction techniques that will provide increased longitudinal stiffness during heavy acceleration. On top of this, the car's torque vectoring system allows the GreenGT H2's engineers to change the power delivery for specific tracks, so Dunlop's engineers must develop a tire compound to suit the changes.
The venture with the GreenGT also marks Dunlop's new commitment to developing tires specifically for enhancing the performance and handling of electric cars. Dunlop engineers hope what they learn through the Green GT H2 race program will help the company produce tires that driver further with less energy consumed, while also maximizing grip.
While we may still be years away from having widely available, completely green supercars, the new venture between GreenGT and Dunlop should prove to be exciting for drivers of even the most docile green passenger cars. And as is usually the case with racing, the lessons learned on the track will undoubtedly trickle down the consumer.

Sitting Your Kids Below The Ages Of 2 Within A Rear Facing Position Is Notably Less compromising In comparison with Any Other Sitting Position Claims The United states School For Pediatrics
Enclosed inside a new policy released in the issue of April 2011 of Pediatric medicine, fathers and mothers are advised to keep their children within a rear-facing infant car seat up till the age of two or better still when they have gotten to the required height and also body weight for their specified seat. Also, the AAP also reminded parents about the basic requirement for their children to use booster seats that seat belt positioned until the height of 4' and 9" in height as well as reaching the ages of 8-12 years of age.
A previous policy published in 2002 also advised that it is much safer for toddlers and infants to be placed in a rear facing up position up to the limits of the car seat, also indicating age 12 months and 20 pounds as absolute minimum. Noticeably, a huge percentage of parents were observed changing their child's car seat position to a front facing one from rear-faced position upon their babies turning one.
"Transition from one stage to another often gets parents excited, but these transitions must generally be delayed until they are absolutely necessary, as the child fully develop and outgrows the restrictions for his or her present stage," said Dennis Dubin, MD, FAAP, leader and author of the policy statement as well as the accompanying technical report.
"A rear-facing child safety seat does a better job of supporting the head, neck and spine of infants and toddlers in a crash, because it distributes the force of the collision over the entire body," dr durbin said. "with larger kids, a harness fitted forward facing seat is a lot safer than booster seats, and a belt positioning booster seat gives the most protection possible than just a seat belt alone until the seat belt can work correctly."
While the rate of deaths in motor vehicle crashes in children under age 16 has decreased substantially, dropping 45 percent between 1997 and 2009, it is still the leading cause of death for children ages 4 and older. Totalling children and teenagers up to the ages of 21 years, over 5,000 deaths are recorded each year. The amount of casualties can be alarming: for every fatality, approximately 18 children get admitted in hospital while more than four hundred are seriously injured enough to need medical assistance.
Results from research made have uncovered the truth that kids are safer in rear-facing car seats. The 2007 journal injury prevention study unveiled that children within the ages of 2 yr were 75% less likely to be killed or obtain very severe injuries in the event of a crash if they are sat in a rear facing manner.
The age 2 recommendation is not a deadline, but rather a guideline to help parents decide when to make the transition, Dr. Durbin said. Smaller children will benefit from remaining rear-facing longer, while other children may reach the maximum height or weight before 2 years of age.
Children must be transitioned from a rear facing car seat to a forward facing car seat that comes with harness for optimal safety, this should continue until they reach the required height and weight. Then a booster will make sure the vehicle's lap-and-shoulder belt fit properly. The correct positioning of the seat belt should be for it to lie across in between the shoulder and the chest rather than laying across the face or the neck- as this can be dangerous in the event of an accident .
While the lap belt on the other hand must fit low and snug on the upper thighs and hips instead of the belly. A number kids will most definitely require a booster seat until they've grown till four feet and nine inches tall as well as being 8 to 12 years of age.
Children should ride in a http://www.primoeurobath.com/booster-seat.html or an http://www.primoeurobath.com/infant-car-seat.html in the rear of a vehicle until they are 13 years old.
An appropriate age and size restraints are still needed for children under the ages of 2 years to ride on the laps of an adult even though the Federal Aviation Authority permits kids to ride on adult's laps.
Just to recap, whatsoever method of transportation, children must be secured or restrained adequately to avoid severe injuries should an accident occur, whether by air, sea or land kids should always be retrained properly, Dr Durbin said. http://www.primoeurobath.com/, http://www.primoeurobath.com/baby-strollers.html, http://www.primoeurobath.com/baby-monitor.html and safe http://www.primoeurobath.com/baby-swings.html are a few of the most valuable baby products recommended for kids safety in their everyday life.

6 Things You Should Never Say To a Car Salesperson
Most advice you see out there for consumers on buying a car encourages a tense, adversarial atmosphere between the car buyer and the car salesperson. As if buying a car wasn’t complicated enough, consumer advocates tell you to steel yourself for a negotiating session where you must bully, manipulate, and even lie in order to get a good price on your car. Well, relax. What you mainly need to do well in advance to your visit to a dealership is your homework. But once you’re there, you should indeed put on your game face, and try to avoid saying one or more of the following things.
-
“I need to buy a car today!”:
Unless you’re loaded and buy cars like regular folks buy chewing gum or cat food, you probably don’t need the car today. That said, if you’ve done your research ahead of time, you’re probably ready to buy a car, so long as the deal you get jibes with the information you’ve gathered. You don’t want the dealer to give you any less attention than he would a buyer who is in dire need of a car, but the dealer needs to know you will walk away if you’re not happy with a deal.
-
“Well, I’m just not sure what I need in a car.”:
If you haven’t narrowed your search down to a specific car model and price, then clarify for yourself in advance of your visit to a dealership what your car needs are, if only so the salesperson doesn’t waste your time showing you an unsuitable car. Consider how often you drive, the distances you drive, and who or what you’ll be transporting (kids, more kids, several pounds of gravel, etc). Being vague with a salesperson won’t get you a better deal; it’ll just waste everyone’s time.
-
“I’m not sure what my credit score is.”:
There’s no excuse not to know your credit history and FICO scores before contacting or walking into a car dealership. You are entitled by law to download your credit reports from the three big credit companies once a year at annualcreditreport.com and you can purchase your FICO score (the score a car dealer is likely to see) for $19.95 at myfico.com. And remember to bring your scores with you when you’re ready to negotiate a loan.
-
“I need a monthly payment of…”:
Discussing how much you’re able to pay monthly on a loan before determining the car’s sales price can end up costing you much more money. A loan stretched out to 72 months to accommodate your monthly budget will cost you more in interest than a more typical 48-month loan. Do your budget projections at home, and figure out how much you can pay monthly on a car loan. But at the dealership, focus negotiating a good price for the car you want first. The monthly payments then will take care of themselves.
-
“Your word is good enough for me. Let’s shake hands!”:
Okay, you’re probably not that stupid. But please remember, if it ain’t in writing, it probably ain’t gonna happen. If throughout the negotiating process the dealer is writing things down on various pieces of paper, be sure everything you both have agreed to, including claims made about the condition of the car (“This car has a brand new transmission!”) appears in writing on the final contract.
-
“I’ll take any features you suggest!”:
Some features, also known as add-ons or extras, aren’t really as useful as you might imagine, and others are just plain useless. Do not let a salesperson talk you into paint or fabric protection, two extras that are completely unnecessary. If there are features you know you will need, write them down and bring them up when negotiating the sales price of the car.

After giving the insurance company any new information reagarding your policy, they should now be in a much better state to give you their final quote.
Phone Up Your Insurer To Discuss The Policy
Insurance for van is a little more of a specialist type of cover than car or even home insurance. Not every insurance company can offer you competitive quotes. Most times motorists just prefer to take the easiest option by settling for what they've been used to, in particular, things they've been familiar with in the past . Nonetheles, if you're serious about obtaining cheaper premiums you might just want to go deeper.
Being contented with your current premium does not really stop you from shopping around and obtaining a cheaper quote elsewhere. Finding cheap van insurance quotes can be extremely very easy no matter what means of search you implore- a number of motorists often prefer comparison websites while others prefer to approach individual insurer one by one.
You can easily use a cheaper quote to obtain a more cheaper premium by using it to approach another insurer so they can try and offer you a much lesser quotation- it's been one of the oldest trick in the insurance industry. Really, they are not obligated to change their quote, and majority of insurers will not bulge, but it gives a great way of opening the lines of communication and opening the possibility of lowering your premiums without changing policy.
Verifying Your Policy
Bare in mind that your utmost goal is to lower your premium quiet considerably, so you should decide what part of your policy is needed and what's not, in order to maintain a balance between reasonable premium and adequate cover. Typically, insurers would like to cross sell you on other insurance packages like legal expenses cover, personal injury cover, European cover and lots more. But, there isn't any point buying any of these package when you really do not need them.
Taking out all unwanted products from the policy before buying is the ideal way to save money on your premium, products like accidental break down cover, legal expenses, third party injury liability, personal effect protection are just a few to keep an eye out for. Increasing your level of excess to an unscrupulous amount can be tempting, but always remember that should you be involved in an accident your insurers would request that you pay up the entire amount before your vehicle can be repaired. Saving a significant amount from your premium can only be attained when you eradicate unwanted optional extras.
Lessons to be learned here is that to get a cheap van insurance premium, you'll have to be prepared to fold your sleaves and dig dirty. Irrespective of you conducting researches that involves you calling your prospective insurer or getting quotes from numerous insurers, there are many different choices you could make to get you the right outcome.

Driver Wars: Who’s America’s Best Driver?
If you’ve ever felt like you’re the only good driver on the road some days, you’re not alone—in fact, surveys show that most people believe they are better, more reliable drivers than the other people on the road at any given time. The average person is involved in a car collision just once every 17 years, but with over 300 million people in the US, that rate can add up pretty quickly. If you’ve ever been involved in a car collision, you know that it can be tough to sort out just who’s to blame. And even if you may feel like the best driver on the road, there’s a good chance that you’re not. When it comes to deciphering who is the best driver, there are some candidates who you know have a higher collision rate than others—for instance, teenagers, due largely to inexperience, have a much higher accident rate than someone in their 30s or 40s. So who is the best driver? Statistically, the answer may be a big surprise to some. The following infographic examines, from a statistical standpoint, who the best driver on the road is. Read on to see whether or not you fit the description!

This could devalue your home by £8,000
If you’re selling your home, seemingly insignificant details could knock thousands of pounds off its value.
Are you constantly yelling at your kids to tidy their rooms – insisting they make their beds or pick up their dirty PE kit from the floor?
If your offspring refuse to listen, try telling them that their slovenly ways could be costing you as much as £8,000.
According to research from ING Direct, potential buyers may reduce the offer price on a property by five per cent (equivalent to £8,000) as a result of an untidy kid’s bedroom.
The research found that 41% of Brits would be deterred from buying a property if they saw a messy bedroom and 71% of those people would use this fault as a negotiating tool to lower the price.
In fact, the research found that some hard-nosed buyers would push for a reduction of up to 30% based on a child’s untidy room.
‘Even if the mess doesn’t completely dissuade a buyer, it seems that it certainly impacts on the price they’d be willing to pay – so kids keeping their rooms spic and span could really pay off,’ said ING Direct CEO Richard Doe.
Other potential turn offs
According to the data, a messy bedroom isn’t the only factor that could adversely impact the value of your property.
Having a smelly bathroom is the second biggest turn off – with 65% of those surveyed citing this as deterrent. Likewise, 59% would feel less inclined to place an offer on a property that had a grubby kitchen.
If you would like to sell your home, it could be worth paying a little attention to the state of your front garden. Some 19% of respondents would be put off purchasing a property with an out-of-control lawn.
Any traces of pets such as animal hairs could potentially alienate 30% of those viewing your property.
Are some buyers too picky?
At the more extreme end of the spectrum, some eight per cent of buyers would feel disinclined to purchase a property with net curtains.
Other more demanding buyers would also be put off a property with clashing colour schemes and unattractive artwork on the walls.
Boost the value of a property
Although there are numerous ways you could inadvertently lower the value of your property, there are also steps you could take to increase its appeal to buyers.
Something as simple as cutting the grass or trimming back hedges may significantly improve a garden’s overall appearance.
By clearing up outside spaces, sellers could potentially make their property more attractive to those who come for a viewing.
Removing personal touches may also bolster the chances of a sale. Without clutter from the current owners, people may be able to visualise themselves living in the property.
Potential buyers may also be turned off a property if they have the impression the interior is old fashioned or out-of-date. Adding a lick of paint in a neutral colour may make the interior appear more modern and spacious.

Getting Cheap Month-to-Month Car Insurance
Cheap month-to-month car insurance (pay as you go) is easy to come by these days thanks to the efforts of insurance companies that are adapting to changing economic times and demographics. Most of the country’s major providers offer some sort of month-to-month policy options; some offer multiple options. One of these policies might be right for you if you can’t afford a top-of-the-line policy for your car.
Before getting into the details we should mention that the “month-to-month” designation is applied to two different types of car insurance. The first is a temporary policy you don’t intend to keep in force for a long period of time. The second type is a standard long-term policy that you’ll be paying for every month, rather than in one large chunk or in quarterly installments. It’s vital to understand the difference between these two types of policies before you start shopping for cheap month-to-month car insurance.
Temporary Insurance Policies
A temporary insurance policy is one you might take out under one of the following circumstances:
- you’re a college student only in need of coverage while you’re living on campus
- you have friends or family members who will be using your uninsured vehicle during an extended stay
- you’re borrowing an uninsured vehicle from a friend until such time as you can purchase your own
- you’re insuring a car you only intend to drive during the winter season
The important thing to remember about temporary month-to-month car insurance policies is that they are not designed to be carried for long periods of time. Most companies that offer temporary insurance do so in one, three, or six month increments; you can usually pay one month at a time even if you’re getting a six-month policy. However, because month-to-month car insurance tends to be fairly inexpensive, insurance companies usually will not allow a policy to continue for more than six consecutive months. They do so as a means of preventing enterprising car owners gaming the system.
Permanent Car Insurance Policies
Permanent car insurance policies that allow you to pay premiums once a month are also known as month-to-month insurance. You can find the cheapest car insurance policies of this type by engaging in some comparative shopping. Just as you would with an annual insurance policy, you need to compare the types of coverage being offered, how much each coverage is costing you, what your deductibles will be, and what extras are available to be added.
Keep in mind that even though cheap month-to-month car insurance does exist, it’s never going to be as cheap as purchasing an annual policy and paying for it upfront. Insurance companies purposely give annual customers a better rate as a way of encouraging them to continue purchasing their policies this way. If you can manage to put away the money necessary to buy your insurance annually you could save as much as 20% to 30% per year.
If saving up that much money is not an option for you right now, you might consider putting a down payment on your policy at the time you sign up. This will result in lower monthly premiums and less money paid overall. Conversely, a month-to-month car insurance policy with no down payment is going to be your most expensive option.
Whatever you do, avoid the temptation of making your monthly payments using a credit card unless you have the cash on hand to pay the bill when it comes due. Otherwise, the exorbitant amount of interest you pay on credit card debt will more than destroy any savings you’re getting from a cheap car insurance policy.
